Glass Crystal Beads
Glass bead crystals are typically created using just glass. However, some do contain a few additional additives, such as calcium oxide or sodium. However, crystal costume jewellery can cost a considerable amount of money, especially Swarovski crystal beads. It's wise to have a basic understanding of the difference between crystal and glass.
Essentially, glass is a crystal in its rawest form, and glass to which lead has been added becomes crystal. Its lead content entirely determines the quality of the crystal; the higher the lead content is, the better its quality. Swarovski crystal features a lead content of 30 per cent or higher, making it the best quality crystal in the world.
Glass crystal faceted beads are suitable for tiaras, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and can be stitched into fabric such as wedding dress bodices to create the stunning diamond effect.
